One of the world’s largest networks of institutions of higher learning is found in India. With almost 27% of India’s population in the age group of 0-14 years, India’s education sector provides numerous opportunities for growth.
The number of colleges in India stood at 42,343 in FY20. As of August 23, 2022, the number of universities in India stood at 1,057. India had 38.5 million students enrolled in higher education in 2019-20, with 19.6 million male and 18.9 million female students. In FY20, Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in Indian higher education was 27.1%. According to a report, the number of Indian students opting for higher education abroad grew from 440,000 in 2016 to 770,000 in 2019 and is set to grow further to roughly 1.8 million by 2024, resulting in increased overseas spending on higher education.
All these factors make India a hot pot for global education brands to attract students looking for quality education.
